There is a update available of the High Voltage SID Collection. There are now more then 43.000 SIDs in the collection. Freshness released a new program for the 1541 Ultimate. The program can be used for playing audio MOD files with your 1541 Ultimate. The MOD file system was developed by Karsten Obarski in 1987 for tracker software on the Amiga computer.

The CGSC (Compute's Gazette Sid Collection) has had an update. The COMPUTE!'s Sidplayer was a music system, created by Craig Chamberlain and Harry Bratt, for the Commodore 64. The aim of the Compute's Gazette Sid Collection is to preserve as many of those Sidplayer music files in one location as possible. The current collection contains 12483 MUS, 3705 STR and 4461 WDS files.

Wilfred Bos released a new program, that can identify SID players. Player Identifier is inspired by the SIDId tool written by Cadaver of Covert Bitops. Player Identifier makes use of all available cores of the CPU and uses the BNDM search algorithm to search through SID files very quickly.

Sauraen and Oikanys are working on the MIDIbox aSIDity project. This project will be the most powerful SID-based synthesizer in the world. The system will have 8 Commodore 64 SID sound chips (4 x 6581 and 4 x 8580) 160 modulators and many control options. At the moment they have completed the feedback system, build with an LM1973 (digital volume control) and an op-amp (3x gain). TedPlay is a Commodore 264 family music player for the PC. The program supports the following formats: PRG, PSID/RSID and C8M, a new versatile 8-bit computer music file format. Changes in this version: The elapsed playing time is now visible. Additional info on the PSID tunes is shown in the play list window and a couple of bugfixes.

Venerable Moon is an new SID for the Commodore C64. The demo was released at the Sundown 2012 meeting and reached the second place in the mixed music competition. The music is made by Stinsen.

Jeff Ledger developed a pocket size SID music player. The SID player uses a Parallax Propeller microcontroller and a SD card to read and play the SID music. He made a manual on how to construct the hardware and you can also download the necessary software for the Pocket SID Audio Player.

SID-Wizard is a Commodore 64 music tracker made by Hermit (Mihaly Horvath). Changes in this version: Idle-graphic for improved reading of value boundaries. Blinking playback positions. Extended relocation range. And many bug fixes. The program including source code and manual can be downloaded from the Commodore Scene Database web page.

Jürgen Wothke developed a flash based RSID music player. With this player you can listen online to your favourite SID music. The SID emulation logic is based on the TinySid code by T. Hinrichs and R. Icony is a new stereo SID for the Commodore C64. The original music was made by Yogibear (Joachim Wijnhoven) for the PC. The C64 version is made by Conrad (Owen Crowley). The SID is specially written for the 8580 SID chip.

Andymanone used an ET-BASE PX32 Developer Board to play SID tunes. This development board uses an Parallax 8Cog-Propeller CPU and a SD card to play Commodore C64 SID music. You can watch a demonstration video on YouTube.

At the "Bay Area Maker Fair" in May 2012 Jeri Ellsworth showed a new project. She made an combination of a Commodore 64 and a bass guitar. In this video Jeri shows the inside of the device and explains how it works. The system includes a guitar, a C64 keyboard, an FPGA and a real SID chip.

SID-WIZARD is a new Commodore 64 tracker. The program is made by Hermit and was released at the Arok Party 2012. This tracker is inspired on the well known trackers such as Goattracker, XSID, SDI and others but it also has many new and useful features.

Markus Gritsch has improved his HybridSID. Markus developed a program that converts the RSID format to a special format that can be used with the HybridSID. The device can now "stream" the data from a USB memory stick to the HybridSID without being connected to a PC. You can watch a demonstration on YouTube.

Jack Gassett started a new chip-tune hardware project. The project is based on the Papilio platform, and is designed for hardware hackers and musicians. The RetroCade Synth will play the Commodore 64 SID chip, the Yamaha YM-2149 chip, .mod files, MIDI files, and all at the same time! Specifications: 2 Audio connectors, MIDI (In, Out, Through), µSD card, Micro joystick, LCD display, 16 Analog inputs and 16 digital inputs.

Tognon Stefano (ice00) released a new version of XSidplay for Linux. XSidplay is a SID music player for Linux, initially developed by Michael Schwendt. Changes in this version: Added dinamic library selection and libsidplayfp resid emulation.

Squarewave Orchestra is a chip-tune band with Kvee and Nooly. They play game music on home computers and game consoles. On the ArcadeHry 2012 party they gave a live performance and they also used a Commodore C64c for making the music. You can watch the performance on YouTube.

Stefan Noack developed a hardware SID player with the help of a Atmel micro processor. The used components are: 6581 SID, Atmel Atmega162 and a MAX 323. You can use the ACID 64 software to play your SID's on the SIDboard. Because the project is open source you can download the schematics and firmware to build your own SIBboard.

Stare Kino is an alternative band from Poland. The song "Commodore" is a musical tribute to Jack Tramiel. The members of the band grew up in the 80s, in communist Poland, and dreamed of the Commodore C64. You can watch the video-clip on YouTube.

The Amiga Music Preservation (AMP) web page has had a big update. AMP wants to be the most comprehensive, complete and precise database about Amiga music. At the moment there are more than 120.000 modules available.

Flex (Antti Hannula) made a new SID for the Commodore C64. He made the SID with the help of the Goat Tracker program. He also made a real nice "old skool" demo screen. You can download Chime from the Commodore Scene Database.

HIVE is a small computer system. The specifications are: 24 RISC processors, VGA, Video, Stereo sound, 1 MB RAM, SD card, LAN and PS/2. The whole computer fits on a eurocard and has no SMD components. Drohne235 has used his HIVE to build a TriBorg SID player. The SID's can be stored on the SD card and played with the HIVE system. Rave-TZ makes music with many different computers and game consoles. In his demonstration he uses the following equipment: GameBoy, ArdinoBoy, Nintendo NES, Korg Kaossilator Pro, MIDIBox SID and a SID Station. For the control software he uses the program ReNoise.

SID is an 8-Bit desktop synthesizer made by the German company Mode Machines. The SID can be used "stand-alone" or with a PC. The features are: 100+ Patches, 50+ Wave tables drum sounds / effects, Audio in/out, Midi in/out. The SID will be available in April and will cost 599 Euro.

JSIDPlay is a Commodore C64 cycle-exact emulator optimized for sound reproduction. It is also a SID player for music collections like HVSC and CGSC. JSIDPlay2 can load SID (PSID/RSID), MUS, DAT, P00, PRG and STR sound files. It can play mono and stereo formats. External SID filter definitions are possible. And you can also use it like a real C64 to watch demo's or play games.

The files that are available, are the original programs that produce the music with the TED music chip. At the moment there are 200 files available in the database. A few examples are: Auf Wiedershen Monthy, Karate+, Lunar Blitz, Melon v1, Rainbow Trout, Emerald Mine 2, Summer events, Bandits at Zero, Power Ball, etc.
